Try this series of tasks to unravel the basics of the topic.

• Task: 

1. Use Behind The Name to trace the etymology of your first name and the first names of your parents.  Note down your results so you can share them with the class.  Make a note of how popular your name is in England/Wales.  Has it increased or decreased in popularity?  When was your name most popular?  is it more popular in one area than another?

2. Use one of the following websites to locate the etymology of FIVE words.  Make full notes in your book to show the words' origins:

• Ask Oxford
• Online Etymology Dictionary

3. Note in your contact book that your homework is as follows:
